1 Overview
Rello Phone Pty Ltd (ACN 698 341 365) ("Rello", "we", "us") respects your family's privacy. We handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. As a voice carriage service provider, we also comply with telecommunications privacy obligations, including Part 13 of the Telecommunications Act 1997. This policy covers our website (rellophone.com), our pre-orders, the Rello App, and the Rello Phone service.
2 Information We Collect
- When you place a pre-order or reserve a Rello Phone, we collect your name, email, phone number, and delivery address.
- Payments are processed securely by Shopify Payments. We never see or store your full credit card number or payment details. Shopify securely processes your transaction at the time of order.
- When you use the Rello Phone and Rello App, we collect account details, approved contacts added to your whitelist, device connection status, and basic call metadata (the numbers called and received, date, time, and duration of calls). We do not record, monitor, listen to, or store the audio content of any voice calls.
3 Protection of Children's Information
Rello Phones are purchased by adults for household family use. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Account setup, contact whitelisting, and settings sit strictly within the password-protected Rello App managed by the adult account holder. The Rello App contains no third-party advertising, no tracking algorithms, and no social media profiles. We do not build advertising profiles on children, and we will never sell a child's information. An account holder can request access to or deletion of their account and contact data at any time by emailing hello@rellophone.com.
4 How We Use Your Information
We use your information to process pre-orders, deliver hardware, operate our calling service, manage subscription billing, send automated emergency SOS alerts to the Rello App, provide customer support, and meet Australian legal and regulatory obligations.
5 Who We Share Data With
We share information only with essential third-party service providers required to operate our business, including:
- Shopify Payments, to process online transactions securely.
- Our Australian telecommunications carriers, to route and connect voice calls.
- Our secure cloud hosting providers, to run the Rello App and server backend.
- Order shipping and courier partners, to deliver physical hardware.
- Law enforcement or government agencies, only where compelled under Australian law.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing.
6 Data Storage and Retention
Your account details, whitelist contacts, and call records are stored on secure servers located in Australia. As a carriage service provider, Australian law requires us to retain basic call metadata (timestamps and call duration, never audio content) for 2 years, after which it is deleted. General order records are retained as required by Australian tax law.
7 Security Measures
We protect your information using industry-standard technical measures, including SSL/TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive data, access controls, and strict internal security protocols.
8 Website Cookies and Advertising Analytics
Our website (rellophone.com) uses essential cookies, standard site analytics (such as Google Analytics), and social media conversion tracking pixels (such as Meta) to measure website traffic and ad performance. These cookies apply strictly to our marketing website — they are never present inside the Rello App or physical phone devices. You can control or opt out of cookies through your web browser settings.
9 Your Rights and Complaints
Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or request deletion of data we are not legally required to keep.
To exercise these rights or lodge a privacy inquiry, email hello@rellophone.com. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
